Together with artist Anna Papathanasiou, we created the piece called Empathetic Body (trilogy) in 2018-19 which circles around topics of separation, trauma, and empathy. The empathetic body and performance scenario grew on a daily collected data exchange between two artists (us), eventually gained layers of skeleton, muscle, and skin, and kept walking and falling.
The different variations of the Empathetic Body were premiered at the Lithuanian Swamp Pavilion ((Swamp School) during the 16th Venice Architecture Biennale, the SKG Bridges Uprising Art & Culture Festival in Thessaloniki, the 12th Kaunas Biennial.
In 2024 summer, under the burning Greek sun and the shadow of olive trees Empathetic Bodies (in plural this time) was presented during Touching Faultlines exhibition in Crete. Originally performed by myself and Anna this time I was thrilled and curious to share my role with Greek dance artist Antonia Economou. Whether on a polished mirror platform, ancient stone floor, or dusty driest soil, we keep looking for a common ground to meet.
