Memory Islands is an interdisciplinary, community engaging artistic process that offers a poetic bubble of collective memory.
Memories are something that we all carry on. Either with excitement and joy or anxiety if dealing with intense and difficult experiences. They all shape us, move, and guide us through life, create behavior patterns, and enriche or pollute our lives. In this artistic process, we explore different layers of memories – the ones we consciously keep alive and the ones we store in our unconscious memory corners. We raise questions: How can we evoke memories we forgot we had? Could we erase the ones we don't want to carry anymore? If we relive and integrate past traumatic experiences, could we change our future? What coping mechanisms could we find from our best life memories? How do our personal memories interweave with the collective memory of archetypes and myths? How deep can we go by remembering?
