How long would you be able to stand up for another person’s life? Lithuania has over 500 people waiting for a donated organ every single day. They don’t know whether they’ll make it. They don’t even know if the possibility to get what they desperately need is real.
For one day, railway stations in Vilnius and Kaunas hosted people who wanted to stand still and experience the emotional state of such waiting. A symbolic 24-hour performance had some participants standing for an hour, and some stayed for the whole time, raising awareness about the importance of organ donation.
Hundreds of people stood for a total of 1,200 hours. The performance, along with the ad campaign and a sensitive video clip by director Kristina Buožytė provoked various discussions about the topic. There were over 800 stories in the media, and the number of donor cards went up 500%, reaching the country’s all-time high.
